Are you getting ready for yeah write #65?

Me, too.

The badges are tucked away in a widget hidden at the top of this page. You can access them by clicking the plus symbol at the top right and the hidden widget will drop. On rare occasion depending on your browser and the lunar cycle and if dinner at Table 6 was served on time the night before, the badges will not appear using this method. Feel free to grab your favorite badge from any blog on the grid that had no such issue, then add it to your post along with the post permalink (referred to by the Inlinkz app as a backlink).

Moderating the grid last week worked well, even though I spent more time than I thought necessary emailing those whose posts exceeded the 500-word limit. That’s a major requirement, and it’s listed all over the place. In the summer FAQ, in each introductory post to the grid each day. Sending out at least 20 of those emails took away from the time I had set aside for promoting the posts on the grid, which happens to be my favorite part of the week. My least favorite part? Sending 20 emails to personally say to 20 people what I’d already said in several different places before anyone had written a single post for the grid.

Please save me from that this week. Before you add your post to the summer series grid, get these bullets tattooed on your butt. When you try to sit, the pain and discomfort should remind you to:

[bullet_list]

  • keep your word count to 500 or fewer
  • offer your readers a central conflict
  • tell a story with a beginning, middle and end. It should be more than a journal entry
  • omit any reference at all to the provided prompts, either as an introduction to your post or as a footnote

[/bullet_list]

Thanks, you guys. We’re all in this together, learning as we go along. Becoming better readers as we become better writers.

Yeah write #65 opens Monday.
