Welcome to the yeah write #57 hangout grid!

How yeah write works

Yeah write has two grids for submitting your very best post of the week: the challenge grid, which is limited to 50 bloggers and is primarily for advanced storytellers with a competitive streak, and the hangout grid, which is open to an unlimited number of bloggers and is primarily designed for bloggers who appreciate our we-read-all-the-posts community spirit of yeah write, but who may not want the pressure of having to doing so. There’s no competition on the hangout grid, so there are no prizes awarded. What I like most is that it still attracts the same wide variety of blog post topics as the challenge grid without needing a fainting couch—it’s read at your own pace. Either grid you choose, you will enjoy.

Summer’s coming!

Summer is a traditionally slow time on the Interwebs due to many factors, among them being, simply, people getting out of the house more and away from their computers. Why blog it when you can live it, eh?

So we can do two things to get ready for the drop in participation: invite your blogging writer friends to join us here for a rollicking good time (just send them a nice email explaining what you love about this place) or, accepting we may not have a full house during the summer, remember not to take the drop off personally—it’s not you, it’s nothing you said. Our regular readers, writers and voters will be back in the fall. In the meantime, we’re just gonna keep going with our core: the yeah write addicts. We make our own party.

Writing partners

This summer may be a good time for me to formally launch a project I kind of started a few weeks ago. I know some of you would benefit from an online writers’ group that could help you focus on your narratives and tighten your writing a bit. While I get the format together, feel free to email me to tell me you want in, and I will assign you to a group, four at a time.

The group will set its own parameters: how the materials will be exchanged, if you’ll ever meet by video and whatnot. I’m just gonna assign the group members and you guys take it from there. When you email me, I’ll reply with a few questions such as how much time you’ll have to devote to a group, whether you consider yourself to be a writer who blogs or a blogger who writes, all that, then I’ll match you based on the answers.

Let’s have another wonderful week on the grid.
